Birch Blessings Symbiotic Day Cream

One of the most giving trees in our northern forests is the birch. The leaves, bark, buds and sap have been used for millennia by indigenous cultures around the world in various preparations for food, medicine, shelter and more. But another gift the birch tree provides us is fungi. Birch trees host a myriad of medicinal fungi whose usage dates back to the night of time by cultures in boreal regions.
One of the most notable being Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), of which the use can be traced back thousands of years, appearing in ancient chinese medicine texts, although it is presumed the actual usage may date back much further.
In formulating our products, we like to observe not only one plant in the local ecosystem, but design products around the symbiosis we observe in the life forms around us. In this lotion, we have chosen 4 of the most common medicinal fungi who share a symbiotic relationship with birch trees in the Great Lakes Bioregion, drawing their power from the life giving forces of the birch: Chaga, Birch Polypore, Tinder Conk and Turkey Tail.
We perform a dual extraction of these fungi to harness their Vitamin D, Selenium and potent antioxidants, as well as high amounts of polysaccharides to help promote cellular regeneration and collagen production, while their anti-inflammatory compounds and beta-glucans which can calm irritated, red or itchy skin. They are capable of penetrating deep into the skin, allowing your skin to topically absorb nutrients directly where they are needed.
To use: apply a pea sized amount to well hydrated skin (i.e. after washing your face, showering or misting face with a hydrosol to help the product disperse thinly over skin’s surface.
